Argentina will have a familiar face in its national side when it faces Venezuela on Friday in a friendly match. Lionel Messi, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, will return to international duty in his native country since playing in the World Cup in Russia last year. The whole nation is definitely excited to see the Barcelona striker in action as the national football federation even made an amazing video to commemorate his return to national duty.

It was recalled that Argentina had a disappointing performance in Russia where the team was sent packing in the last 16 of the tournament. The popular football player took a self-imposed break from national duty since losing to eventual champion France last year that made the football-crazy nation severely disappointed. The return of the 31-year old striker is also a welcome sight to all fans that have been waiting and wondering if the player will be able to play for his country again.

Leonil Messi is an accomplished football player and arguably the greatest ever to play the beautiful game. He had won in domestic competition playing in Barcelona and has received several awards including the Ballon d’Or five times. But somehow, his legacy has been questioned so many times with his failure to bring Argentina to greater glory in an international tournament, especially in the World Cup.

Messi will play for the first time with Coach Lionel Scaloni who took over the job as the team’s head coach after the World Cup debacle. It was not clear if the flamboyant striker will be with the team as they will travel to Tangier to play against Morocco next week. Cesar Luis Menotti, the national team director, is monitoring his condition and is contemplating about giving the star player enough time to rest in the coming days.
