Tourism Tech Adventure arranged by the World Tourism Organization occurred in Colombia. It attracted around 700 participants from around the globe. The Colombian government also provided significant support for the event to come about. Among them included investors, corporations, startups, and academia and business incubators. Discussions with the public sector on how to enhance new inventive business idea for workable tourism growth dominated the event. The affair served as a background for the first Colombian platform for tourism innovation and entrepreneurship, which focuses on generating synergies among relevant stakeholders, sharing achievement stories and promoting a venture capital investment tradition.
An Initial Startup MasterClass Came about Before the Tech Event
The conference also served as an opportunity for seed and incubation stage investors to give out insights on how to handle challenges of scaling up or how to manage and secure investors. Dux Capital, Angel Ventures, Amadeus Ventures, and Bluebox were among the companies present. Before the event, fifteen Colombian startups took part in a Startup MasterClass. IE Business School, a UNWTO partner, provided feedback on their proposals, business plans and workability focus, and gave general advice on how to lure investment. A real startup contest followed the conference with the big prize going to James Figueroa of GDX Travel. The subsequent award went to Eduardo Maldonado from Tourbitz and Miguel Antonio Paez from Escappy Travel obtained the third.
Winners to Get the Opportunity to Advance their Ideas
The overall winner will get access to work at the Wayra Coworking Space in the city of Bogota, involving personalized coaching from the Wayra Colombia group. The victor will also get a chance to exhibit the project proposal in the framework of the 23rd exhibition of the UNWTO General Assembly. It will take place in Saint Peterburg, Russia between 9th and 13th September 2019.
